Doug wins Palm Beach Formula Drift Pro-am

On June 4th, 2011 Doug Van Den Brink added another win to his resume this past weekend at Palm Beach Formula Drift Pro-am put on by Streetwise Drift. This was the first time that Formula Drift had an event at Palm Beach International Raceway and it had a very fast straight away of 90mph to the first clipping point with speeds dropping to 45mph for the second clip and zone clipping. Doug's Top 16 was against Bill Sherman, which he is always a tough competitor. He had to do a OMT (one more time) with Bill because of a throttle issue. Doug worked around the throttle issue and moved on to the Top 8. His Top 8 run was against Stenger and with two good runs Doug was in the top 4. His top 4 battle against Charles Thompson was one that he had to becareful with. Thompson was a very smooth driver but his Nissan 240SX had a lot less horse power than Doug's turbo charged Mustang. He quickly took care of Thompson and then it was time to face Ryan Kaufman in the Finals. Doug had his eyes set on the prize and he took it home.

Doug's next race will be at XDC Hyperfest June 18th in Summit Point. He won this race last year and he is looking forward to winning it again.

Streetwise Drift Pro-am in Palm Beach

This weekend June 3rd and 4th is Round 2 of Streetwise Drift Pro-am in conjunction with Formula Drift Round 3. We are getting ready to help out Doug Van Den Brink and also the guys at Batlground. It will be a great chance for Doug to get more seat time before going to XDC at Summit Point. Good luck guys and we will see you there.

Xtreme Drift Circuit Round 3 Orlando, FL

Well the season didn't start very good for the D'vanz team. Doug worked as hard as he could to get his Mustang ready for the south season opener at XDC Round 3 in Orlando, which he failed to get it finished and could not make the event. It's hard to miss an event but when the car isn't ready you just can not afford to go half a$$ and waist your time. On a different note the D'vanz team is excited about all the changes that where made to the Mustang in the off season and we can't wait to see what it will do.

Good news, the car will be ready in three weeks for the Streetwise Drift Pro-Am in Palm Beach with Formula Drift. So we will see you there on June 3rd & 4th.

Tim & Cale Roper's Project: 160MPH 79' Camaro

This is Tim & Cale Roper's 1979 Camaro that they are planning to run the ECTA (East Coast Timing Association) in Maxton, NC. They've already made one trip back in 2008, but this time they have a goal to run 160mph in a stock street legal Camaro. The first trip to Maxton in 2008 Cale had a speed of 128mph. They have a new motor being built so that they can get closer to their goal.

Below you can see I'm doing my part in this project, by supplying the plumbing needed to finish the motor.

PHD would like to wish them luck with the project and I hope you reach your goal of 160mph.

Mitsubishi StarQuest Project Car Part 3

Here I replaced the factory glass with lexan for saftey and weight reduction. Below is a picture of the factory glass in the rear windows.

Here I used the factory glass to make the new lexan windows.

Made sure the new windows fit and did any trim work.

This picture was after I drilled 1/8" holes for rivets and I had already painted the inside outer edge black to cover the frame work behind the window.

Last I made sure the top trim would fit back into place with no problems.

The weight savings was only 3lbs, but my plans is to replace all glass with lexan and that should save a lot of weight. Besides it's safer!!!
