Mitsubishi Starion/Conquest Project Car

4G Performance and PHD are building a project shop car. The build is a 1988 Mitsubishi Starion/Conquest that 4G has had for a few years now. The main focus of the build is to display what both of our shops can do together.

The car itself needs work but as for the over all shape of the body is in good shape. Time will tell how well it is after we do a complete tare down.

As for the very tired 2.6L that came in this car, we are intalling a 4G63 from a Mighty Max or Montero because of the wide block 4G63 will bolt right to the bellhousing.

This car came complete with leather seats and top of the line options in 88', but that's about to change. We plan on putting in a roll cage, racing seats, custom dash panels, fuel cell, and much much more.

The tare down is almost complete, with the engine and transmission out. If you look close you'll see we need a new windsheild because ours has a big hole in it.

The only thing left before we pressure wash the car is to remove all the wiring so we can take out everything we don't need and see if the mouse that was living in the dash chewed any wires. Yes, that's right I said a mouse and you don't want to know how I found out.

Our goal for this car is to show what we can do together, plus to take it to the track. You might see it a the drag strip, time attack, drifting, or even riding down the road in the Atlanta area.

Stay tuned for more to come............

Male Y-blocks in black are here!!

Just arrived today is our new Male Y-blocks in black and these things look good. They will be added to our website by the end of the week so get those orders coming. If you would like more information please contact Andy at Performance Hose Distributing (PHD).

Aeroquip's 2010 Catalog is out!

The cover looks good, but it still has some of that plain Eaton/Aeroquip look.

Inside I noticed they fixed a few problems with the old catalog and they finally added black fittings to their line.

With the addition to black fittings, they have added a few new aluminum part numbers as well.

Over all the catalog looks good, but I still think it's a little to late for them to come out with black fittings. I've been asking for black fitting for about 3 years now and they finally released them.

If you're quote is " When it isn't just a question of being first.... but also being the best." you need to go by it.

KRC's Newest Pulley System for LS Crate Motors

KRC Power Steering press release on their newest Crate Pulley system for GM CT525. This is a huge step for them in 2010 with a new LS Crate motor for Dirt Late Model racing. Read the press release below.

Kennesaw, Ga. -- August 26, 2009 -- The GM CT525 is revolutionizing the circle track industry and KRC has followed suit. KRC's new complete front drive system for the CT525 includes everything you need to finish off the front of the engine. A KRC aluminum power steering pump with bolt-on reservoir tank mounts in front of the driver's side cylinder head, and a Powermaster alternator sits above the water pump. This provides a compact system capable of fitting into most race cars. Also included is a fixed adjustable idler-tensioner, -4 AN water bypass hose and fittings, Goodyear Gatorback belt, alternator ground strap and all brackets, pulleys, hardware and spacers. Everything you need to complete the front of the engine, plus a set of detailed instructions, is included.

KRC's fixed idler-tensioner designed just for the LS engine is included in the CT525 kit. Unlike spring load tensioners that wear out over time and cause the belt to bounce and potentially jump off the pulley, KRC's tensioner keeps the belt tighter and more secure. Plus, the tensioner features three mounting points rather than the factories two, keeping the tensioner straight and solid. Also, included are -4 AN water bypass fittings that run from each cylinder head. These fittings replace the factory clamp on hose system, making it more adaptable to race car plumbing. Plus, you get a proven KRC power steering pump with the exclusive chanageable flow valve technology to fine tune the feel and assist in the steering system

SEMA 2009 Doug Van Den Brink

2009 SEMA Show is happening this week and Doug Van Den Brink with his turbo powered Red Mustang made the trip again for the second year in a row. These year the Mustang is sporting new wheels, a wide body kit, and a new paint layout. After the SEMA show Doug will make the long trip back to the east coast with a brief stop in NC before heading out again to display the Mustang at PRI in Orlando, FL. This will be the last stop and the end of the long road trips until next year.

Chris from 4G Perf VS Mustang

4G Performance's Chris with his Dodge Colt Verse a newer Mustang.

Chris left when the Mustang passed the 60 foot mark.

Here you notice Chris is passing the Mustang and when he did that the crowd went crazy.

Every time Chris came to the line the crowd started talking about the first run with the Mustang. He did the same thing to a Chevy truck but missed a shift and had to let out of it. He still almost out ran the truck that was putting down some good times for a truck. More photos from Import Showdown will be posted soon.

I know it's hard to tell but this is a Mustang

I really like how the Aeroquip Startlite Crimp fitting and Goodridge hose goes great with this all black car. It breaks up the very compact engine area with some color. Good job guys!

Formula Drift Round 3 at Wall Speedway in New Jersey

On June 4th I got on a plane and went to New Jersey for Round 3 of Formula Drift to help out Doug Van Den Brink (DV). I had to stay open half a day on June 4th so I missed practice day.
As for the event on Friday June 5th there was a 100% chance of rain and wow were they correct it was the first time that Formula Drift had to cancel due to rain. It rained all day and stopped sometime during the night. So we had to start our day off early on Saturday June 6th around 6am because of the Friday rainout the event started at 8am. This made for a very long day since it didn't end until 7pm.
DV qualified for the event in 23rd and had to take on Chris Forsberg in the NOS Energy Drink 350Z. This was the hardest competitor DV had to face to make the top 16. Forsberg lead first DV followed; into the first turn Forsberg jumped out to a three car lead and DV never got a chance to get it back. Now DV leads Forsberg followed; into the first turn where DV got a small lead but Forsberg closed the gap quickly. Forsberg was glued to DV all the way around the track, Forsberg moves on and we go home. DV said "when I crossed the finish line and could see orange next to my driver door, I knew he had won." DV has now had two good events and I think he will break into the top 16 at his next event.
Formula Drift had another first happen this weekend and that was Falken Tire had a 1,2,3 finish. No other tire company has done this yet and Falken Tire has been waiting for this day for 5 years.
I'm not sure if I will be able to make anymore events this year but if I do get the chance I will be there to help DV make it into the top 16 and try to get him on that podium.

Thank you to everyone that helped this weekend and to DV's sponsors for getting us there.

I like this video of Formula Drift at Atlanta!

Get well Bobby of CIN Motorsports

On Sunday May 31st, Bobby Young of CIN Motorsports from Charlotte NC was with friends in the Tennessee mountains when they lost control of their G35 and crashed. Bobby was in the back seat and received the most injuries. There were two other people in the car and they are OK with some bumps and bruises. Bobby is still in the hospital but looks to be released in the next day or so.
My prayers go out to Bobby and his wife Darleen for a full recovery, because I know how hard it's going to be when you own your own business with a baby on the way and now you can't work until you recover. With this on my mind it has made me open my eyes and start making changes so that my family and business will survive if I get hurt.

Working late!

I'm sitting here trying to do my reorders and just had a thought.......What am I still doing up?

Well when you have you own business and a family you must work all hours to get the job done. So I thought I would take a break and blog a little. The only thing I can really say about working these crazy hour is that I love what I do and I guess this is why I still do it. Someone once told me when I was racing that when you don't enjoy what you do you need to find something else to do.

O.k. I'm done for tonight and I will finish working on Purchase Orders in the morning.

Good Night Everyone!

Pray for the Deppa Family

Today is a sad day...........

I receive a phone call around 8pm on Saturday May 16th that Mike Deppa's brother (Jason Deppa 20 years old) has passed on. Jason was in a car wreck on Saturday in Jasper, Ga and was life flighted to a Chattanooga hospital.

For those of you that don't know Mike, he's a close friend of mine and the GM of KRC Power Steering.

My family and I would like to send out our prayers to the Deppa family, so please pray for them with us.

Formula Drift Atlanta May 2009

Well, This is my first blog and I thought it should be about Formula D from this past weekend May 8th & 9th at Road Atlanta.
Most of you that will read this know that I own and operate my own business called Performance Hose Distributing. Selling Aeroquip & Goodridge products to the performance market and trying to make it in this economy.

My good freind Doug Van Den Brink (DV) called me on Sunday May 3rd and said he was coming to Formula D on May 7th-9th, but no one was coming to help with the car this time other than Doug Nagy from StreetWise parts in CA. So I made some calls and Derek Rummage a good freind I grew up with said he would go with me to help DV out. Derek and I spent most of the day Thursday out on the race track getting sun burned and smelling rubber burning which is great if you're a car person. Test day was great for DV because he learned more about the track and with CA Doug's help it really showed.

Now comes the fun part of owning your own business, I had to go to work at 8pm on Thursday to finish some hose kits for a customer that I hand delivered to him on Friday at Formula D. Well I was so tired Thursday night I finished them on Friday morning before Derek & I left for the track. DV this is one reason for being late to the track Friday morning.

On Friday my lovely wife came to help and man we were glad to see her, because she had lunch! I was so greatful that day at 2pm when she arrived, because all day Thursday we went with out eating and didn't eat until that night on the way home. Also DV had two guys Corey & Jason show up to help and man was I thankful they showed up. We worked hard during practice making sure we had fresh tires, we watched the track for changes, and DV was focused on his driving. During the last part of practice DV's clutch started acting up and he had to change the way he drove the top part of the "P" to save it for qualifing. He laid down to good runs during qualifing to lock himself into 18th overall.

Right after is run we loaded the truck and rushed back to the trailer to change the clutch. With everyones help we got it done and almost made the last practice for the day, but we just missed it. If it wasn't for the starter we would have had plently of time. Derek was the lucky person in charge of the starter and I commend him for doing a great job.

Now for Saturday, the biggest day of the weekend. Top 32 tandem to top 16 tandem and this year I think this was the best thing Formula D did to mix things up a little. DV was up against Joon Maeng and DV had to follow on the first run. Going into the "P" it was a good battle and everything was clean, but coming out of the top of the "P" DV got a good run (maybe too good) and drove in next to Joon. When he did that he took Joon's line away and Joon spun. After they looked everything over DV had to lead and by far this would be DV's best run of the weekend. It wasn't enough points on the second one to make up for the first run, so Joon moved on to the top 16. DV showed he can make top 16 and I feel like his time will come very shortly. Maybe Wall Speedway in June?
After top 32 tandem, we loaded the car up and watched the rest of the event with the fans. I've never been this tired before and just ready to find my bed, but it was fun and I'm sure I will do it again next year.

Thank You, Andy
